A Resource for Your Community
You see them in your classrooms, your youth groups, your shul. Young men who want or need more. Maybe it's because they're struggling—disengaged, making poor choices, drifting from Jewish life. Or maybe they're doing well but are capable of so much more, hungry for depth and challenge that the usual structures can't provide.
You want to help. But you're also realistic about the limits of what you can offer within the structures you work in.
That's where I come in.
What I Offer
I provide one-on-one mentoring for young men ages 12-22 through a practice called Rabbi Mentor Coach. I work with:
- Young men who are off the derech or heading in that direction
- Students in Jewish schools who are disengaged or struggling to connect
- Young men making concerning choices around screens, responsibility, relationships
- Young men who are doing well but it's clear they need more
My approach combines the depth of a rabbi, the relational skill of a mentor, and the practical tools of a certified youth life coach. I've been doing this work for 25 years—teaching in Jewish high schools, working at a major university Hillel, and mentoring young men through transitions and challenges.
What Makes This Different
This isn't kiruv. I'm not trying to make young men more observant. I'm helping them become more grounded, more responsible, more capable—and more engaged with Jewish wisdom as a relevant resource for their lives.
This isn't therapy. I don't treat mental health issues. But I work well alongside therapists when that support is needed.
This is mentorship. Weekly one-on-one sessions where we work on responsibility, self-awareness, goal-setting, and building the foundations of mature Jewish manhood. We learn and discuss Jewish texts when relevant. I'm real with them, I see the good in them, and I don't coddle them.
This is accessible. I work virtually with families nationally, so geography isn't a barrier. Sessions are weekly, commitments are 6-12 weeks (with option to extend), and the investment is $120-150 per hour.
Why Families Trust a Referral From You
When a rabbi or educator recommends someone, families listen. You know their sons. You see what's happening. Your recommendation carries weight.
I want to make it easy for you to refer with confidence:
- I offer a free initial consultation so families can see if this is the right fit before committing
- I respect the relationship you have with the family and won't undermine your role
- I'm collaborative and happy to coordinate with you (with appropriate permissions) if that's helpful
- I'm clear about what I do and don't do so expectations are realistic from the start
When to Refer
Consider referring a family when:
- A young man is struggling and traditional approaches (therapy, tutoring, stern talks) aren't working
- Parents are desperate and don't know where to turn
- A young man is capable of more but needs the right challenge and guide
- You sense he needs an additional strong male mentor who can speak his language
- The family is looking for someone who understands Jewish life deeply but won't push the young man in ways that won't work
